About Me

I am an engineer by training applying my skills to work that advances the lives of people in meaningful ways. I strive for a more holistic approach to traditional engineering. I excel at out of the box thinking and creative problem solving and seek to help teach others to do the same! I love to discuss ideas and applications of technology and exploring the implications of pursuing a goal and the moral/ethical implications of our approach.

Education & Certifications

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering | 2019 | “Cathode Coupling in a Low Power Hall Effect Thruster” - Ion Space Propulsion Laboratory | Michigan Technological University
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering | 2017 | Michigan Technological University
  • Minor in Mathematical Sciences and Aerospace Engineering, concentration in Engineering Enterprise
  • License for Amateur Radio (HAM radio)

Research Interests

I am currently focused on developing novel foundations for honey bee hives, image-based analysis pipelines to assess foundation usage and cell content. I found the Plants X Tech lab through my interest in 3D printing and I have further developed my skills by helping improve and maintain the lab's hardware and establish the lab as a Core Facility.

Future Work

The goal is to be able to work into a role as a laboratory manager/CORE manager, and perhaps teach some courses. In the future I would like to be able to do work in the opensource world to develop low cost tools and scientific equipment that satisfy key requirements for all sorts of applications.

Fun Fact

My 3D printing journey began with an Ender 5 Plus in 2020, it's still up and running today but I've upgraded it into a Core-XY, auto-bed-leveling, toolchanger (multicolor/material).
