Patricia Monterrosa
Patricia Monterrosa is a Michigan State University Extension educator focusing on career development.
In this role, Paty:
- Leads the statewide Chispa 4-H initiative.
- Develops and delivers bilingual (English/Spanish) curricula and educational resources focused on leadership, creativity, goal setting, and career exploration and workforce readiness.
- Creates culturally responsive strategies to foster belonging and engagement with urban communities.
- Builds partnerships with school districts and community organizations.
- Creator, co-coordinator, and host of Cafecito con Pan, a Spanish-language educational series designed to connect Spanish-speaking communities with MSU Extension resources, information, and educational opportunities.
Prior to joining MSU Extension, Paty was a Principal and an Elementary School Science teacher at CC Haim Weizmann, Mexico City. She designed inclusive strategies in learning environments working with regular and special needs students, and enriched accessibility to science for students in the community. She created and taught hands-on science workshops and developed educational management strategies in direct contact with the Secretary of Public Education (Mexico City).
Paty holds a bachelor's degree in Pedagogy (Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, Mexico City), and Master of Arts in Neurocognition, Education and Learning (Instituto de Enlaces Educativos, Mexico City). Because of her efforts in science education, she was awarded a scholarship from the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attend the course “Educación para la Ciencia y Tecnología ITC” (Science and Technology Education) in Israel, 2012.
