Abby is a master's student in the department of Community Sustainability at Michigan State University. Her thesis research explores the relationships between biodiversity, cultural ecosystem services, and human well-being, with a focus on understanding how ecological change influences the ways people experience, value, and connect with nature. She is also involved in research on greenspace exposure and human health, including projects investigating how neighborhood biodiversity and greenspace influence physical and mental health outcomes.
In addition to her research, Abby has served as a graduate instructor for ISB 201L and as a TA on a wildlife conservation study abroad program in South Africa. She particularly enjoys mentoring undergraduate students through experiential and place-based learning and loves helping other people connect with nature. Through her teaching and research, she hopes to contribute to conservation efforts that recognize both the ecological and cultural importance of biodiversity.
