Pesticide applicators and vendors, including growers and crop consultants, can take advantage of a new email alert service from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The new service sends subscribers email notifications when updates are made in EPA's Bulletins Live! Two (BLT) system. These updates may include new pesticide use limitation areas (PULAs) or changes to existing PULAs.

The Bulletins Live! Two system provides information about geographically specific application restrictions required by the Endangered Species Act for certain pesticide use patterns. When a pesticide label directs users to Bulletins Live! Two, applicators must obtain and follow the applicable bulletin before making an application covered by the label.

EPA periodically adds and revises PULAs and other information in BLT, so the requirements for a pesticide product or application area can change over time. For pesticide users, staying informed about these changes is important because BLT bulletins are legally required for some products and can modify acceptable use patterns.

The new EPA email service keeps pesticide users informed about pesticide label changes and updates to PULAs without having to constantly consult the database, potentially alerting applicators to potential use pattern changes or required mitigation strategies.

In addition to the EPA email subscription, Michigan State University Extension will continue to publish its free BLT Tracker Report. This report is updated twice a month to help pesticide applicators, growers and other pesticide stakeholders stay aware of pesticide label changes in the Bulletins Live! Two system. It emphasizes changes that could impact Michigan growers and allows users to view changes over time.
