About ANC:Allen Neighborhood Center is a place-based, non-profit organization that serves as a hub for neighborhood revitalization and for activities that promote the health and well-being of Lansing’s Eastside community. Since 1999, ANC has pioneered programs in health education and outreach, housing improvement, food security and nutrition education, youth development, commercial corridor revitalization, and social capital building. Our neighborhood is richly diverse, home to people of all different cultures, incomes, religions, professions, races and ethnicities, and nativity statuses.Fellowship Opportunities:Community Farming Fellow - Great for students looking to work and learn about an all natural, sustainable, and local farm located directly in the heart of the Eastside community. Our neighbors volunteer to grow food, flowers, and community. Fellows will work with both farm and community as they grow food and wildflowers that nourish the community.Community Engagement and Advocacy Fellow - Our Outreach Office is often the first point of contact for our neighbors. We assist neighbors with whatever they might need, but also run fun programs and events meant to bring the Eastside together, such as our annual Halloween Party. Fellows will support our neighbors in a variety of ways, from signing them up for food stamps to providing information on affordable housing, to being their advocate when facing a challenge from a utility.
Food Pantry and Farmers Market Fellowship - An excellent fit for those interested in food pantry and farmers market management, marketing, communications, community development and/or financials/bookkeeping. The goal of this fellowship is to engage with our community more, grow participation on social media platforms, grow attendance throughout the season, and obtain more sponsorship dollars to produce more opportunities for our neighbors.Youth Programs Fellowship - Our Youth Programs are free, offer job and life skills experience, and provide gardening and nutrition education. We work with kids ages 5-10 and 11-17 in different programs meant to provide age-appropriate education. Fellows assist with the running and development of the program, and must enjoy working with kids!Communications Fellowship - Great for those interested in helping with nonprofit communications and marketing. Fellows will assist with newsletter writing, content creation, graphics, and event promotion!Email me with a cover letter and resume at : alexc@allenneighborhoodcenter.org
